NetBooks and Ubuntu

With Christmas fast-approaching, and Boxing Day in it’s wake, I’ve been researching like a mad-man what kind of netbook suits my needs. Most importantly is ease-of-use with a distribution that is most familiar to me. As I’m a big fan of apt for a package manager I intend to load a netbook friendly version of Ubuntu onto whichever netbook I end up purchasing.

With that in mind, here are the Ubuntu community resources for particular netbooks of interest.

The list is not exhaustive. You may have noticed I left out the OLPC and the HP MiniNote 2133 as well as LG’s newest entrant into the netbook market (and still others), as I’ve narrowed my research down to these four models. Something else to note is that the EeePC has been around long enough that there is an official branch of Ubuntu made just for it. And, of course, the Dell Mini 9 ships with Ubuntu 8.0.4.1 which is a big plus as it appears to be built for Ubuntu.
